Knowledge Management in the Area of Distributed Project Work

Welcome to the research area "Knowledge Management in the Area of Distributed Project Work"!

Introduction

Projects become more and more important for today's organizations. Often one will find them embedded in traditional hierarchical organizational structures as depicted below.

On the one hand these project environments provide an ideal environment for organizational learning, e.g. due to their complexity. On the other hand, projects are kind of being isolated due to their organizational structure and their integration into the surrounding company. This motivates a closer examination from a knowledge management point of view. If one takes an integral knowledge management apporach, one has to focus on three dimensions Human Resources, Information- and Communication Technology (ICT) and Organization.
