Call for Papers: International Workshop on Data and Information Quality

The international workshop on data and information quality concentrates on actionable research results and attempts to bring research and practitioners together enabling new and innovative results on data- and information-centric system engineering. In addition, the workshop provides an excellent opportunity to establish international contacts in the research community and it intends to stimulate collaborative research efforts in data and information quality.

MANAGING INFORMATION QUALITY

Springer has just released the new book on managing information quality. This link takes you to the description.

Upcoming: 8th International Conference on Information Quality: http://web.mit.edu/tdqm/www/iqc/

The research focus of this research area lies in the rapidly growing discipline of Information Quality (IQ). This concept, mainly promoted by the MIT Total Data Quality Management Center, is based on the premise that only information that is fit for use and meets the expectations of its users can contribute to their personal knowledge and become actionable. In our research, we look for possible measures to ensure information quality within companies. Such measures include information quality standards, training formats, workflow mechanisms, or specialized institutions. Specifically, we are looking for ways to implement standards that can ensure high-quality information. These standards are based on a few criteria, such as conciseness, consistency, convenience, clarity, currency, or correctness.

The research domain Information Quality and Knowledge is now offering its extensive link collection on the topic of Information Quality and related areas. In addition, the two sub-research areas are now described in more detail, they are:

If you would like to find out more about these general research questions and how they relate to specific application areas, follow the links provided below. They provide more background on these research issues and list upcoming events.

The following questions form the nucleus of our research in the domain of information quality:

  • How can high-quality information be defined and how does it contribute to the knowledge development and use within a company?
  • What are the possibilities of a knowledge Medium to promote information quality? How should it be designed to ensure the quality of information?
  • Which conceptual frameworks exist to model information quality? How can they be evaluated?
  • What methodologies exist to systematically assure the information quality within a company?
  • Which company case studies can illustrate state-of-the-art practice in information quality?
